Unearthing hidden gems…
We think our beautiful frescoes deserve their time in the spotlight. After all, for years, we didn’t know that some of them existed. During our detailed renovation, we removed a false ceiling in the heart of the space (now the domed breakfast room) and discovered something truly exciting – a semi-preserved fresco, whose finish was faint and faded in places and entirely vanished in others. We knew instantly that we wanted to restore it, along with those in two of the bedrooms.
Local restoration specialist Luca Mancini brought our vision to life and added a few creative touches of his own. Using a lifetime of expertise (he has undertaken restorations in local churches, nearly Michelin-starred restaurant La Caravella and Hotel Floridiana) he painstakingly worked on the ceilings over many months. One of the frescoes now makes a striking centrepiece in the dining room, running the full length of the space. Flora and fauna are a recurring motif. Look closely, and you’ll make friends with a beautifully detailed peacock in our Deluxe room, where the fresco can be viewed up close from a newly installed mezzanine. Blue skies and delicate floral wisps are order of the day in the Junior suite. The frescoes inspired the rest of our interiors – traditional Majolica tiles echo the palette of each ceiling, while simple, sleek furnishings are designed to offset the natural richness of these decorative gems.
