A nineteenth century bishop’s house, reimagined
Our former apartment-turned-bijou albergo occupies one of the most storied streets in the former maritime republic of Amalfi, in a building that was constructed in the 1800s and appears to have started life in a humbler guise much earlier. Just steps away from the Duomo and the town’s famed port, we’re located right on the main street within easy reach of shops, restaurants, bars and ferries.
At the same time, Residenza Amalphia is something of a sanctuary. Our second-floor space, once the apartment of our grandparents, has been lovingly restored and reworked to accommodate four bedrooms, with an airy breakfast room at its heart. Ours is a unique escape that offers guests the sense that they are staying in Nonno’s elegant apartment, albeit with softly updated interiors that riff on southern Italian design motifs.
